Gabby Radio Scoop

Restaurant Show on Saturday, June 26, 2010

This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:

Part 2:

HHere’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday June 26, 2010.

We were in studio with the folks from the Ritz Carlton—Chef Robert Bogart and Allyson Freeden. Linda Appel Lipsius from the great tea, Teatulia was there too.
And Steve Miller of Netnewsdesk co-hosted with me. I had lost my voice and he was being me.

The question of the day:
How many bags of white tea does teatulia sell in a month-5,000
How many different bottles of wine does Elway’s carry-815

Linda was fantastic—her teas are amazing and all pure and incredible.
Go to teatula.com
You can find it at the Market, Whole Foods at some locations,
Table 6, Root Down, Fuel are a few restauants.
Look for it –it is great.

Elways’ has a great happy hour every day from 2-7---they do Sushi Sunday with $20 dinners and more. And you can still have the Elway’s birthday special though June.

CALL 970-923-8015 FOR RESERVATIONS AT VICEROY—IT IS GOING TO BE SPECTACULAR—THEY REALLY WANT TO IMPRESS US.

WE ARE AT PIATTI NEXT SAT. DURING THE CHERRY CREEK ART FESTIVAL-COME BY.

THERE IS A GABBY DINNER AT CHOPSTICKS TOMORROW NIGHT. BE THERE FOR GREAT FUN—AND POSSIBLY THERE ARE OPENINGS SO CALL.

The Broker
821 17th St.
303-292-5065
6.30

The “old” Broker is all new!!!! And we are gonna have a ball as Jerry, the new owner, shows off a whole new way—it’s gone up to date and fun. Forget all that fancy-no shrimp bowl, but a fabulous 4 course dinner with wine pairings with each course. Jerry is known for his great wines and we will enjoy all. The price inclusive of tax, tip and wine is $30---and this will be limited in seating. Join us for a night of food and wine.

We stopped at Silver Plume Antique shop and Café on our way home. We had divine chicken salad, quiche (the best anywhere) and pies, strawberry bread, and cinnamon rolls, and of course, the best tea.
Shells and Sauce was great as ever—better than Aspen. We had super bread as always and then salad and soup and entrees of chicken parmesan, vongole, and lasagna and ended with super tiramisu.

We went to a special dinner at Frasca to see Marcus Samelson. He is a fabulous chef in New York but from Ethiopia. There was a great dinner of food and fabulous wine. Bobby Stuckey and Dennette are charming. My favorite dishes were the marinated salmon and the cheesy rolls.
Vesta has a new menu and it is great. The first time ever on one page. It is great but you can still choose 3 sauces with your meal. We had duck confit, a great yellow beet amuse and then pecan pie salad and tomato mozzarella salad. Next we had pork belly and potato tots as appetizers. Entrees were salmon, pork and lamb, all were fabulous and so was the ice cream sandwich dessert-with sauces too. The service is always perfect.-
Satchel’s is always fabulous and was as usual. We started with the homemade bread and a fabulous heirloom tomato salad. Entrees were an incredible salmon with scrambled eggs and caviar and soft shell crab. It is a very special spot.
Roth was amazing. The chefs were sensational and the crowd was wowed for good reason. The money raised went to Colorado Uplift. Jamey Fader, Wade Kirwan, Darrel, Tyler Wiard and Michael Bortz were the chefs-what a treat. we will put the recipes up when we receive them.
Steuben’s for lunch was great. It was mobbed and the service and food rock. We had the cobb salad and the tomato mozzarella salad—it is with greens, etc and great.
The Broker has changed and it is really fun. Jerry Fitzler has taken over completely and added an a la carte menu that is super. You can still have the entire traditional meal but this is so much fun. Breads are served first. Then we had the chop salad, the tuna tartar and the onion soup—each is perfect for sharing as portions are huge—and good. Entrees were wonderful prime rib, trout, an eggplant napoleon, and chicken piccata. We ended the feast with apple pie a la mode---all made in house. It is a great new look to food here. And the wine list is beyond incredible. We will be showing them off at the Gabby Dinner.
Kathy adored Shells and Sauce. And the same for Marco’s and the great sandwiches as well as the pizza.
David called and adored Tarbell’s Southglenn—THAT IS THE NEW NAME OF RESTAURANT HOME---AND HE LOVED IT—the burgers, the lobster roll, the fried chicken and more. It is great and finally they have a name.

Trisha called about Satchel’s market—the brunch is the best ever-with special prices and all sorts of food for 4 or me—I raved again about our dinner. It is great.

David called about Brasserie Ten Ten in Boulder. It was great.
Lydia wanted fried green tomatoes-we talked about Table 6 and Fuel.
CJ adores tea and we talked tea.

AND WE RAN OUT OF TIME. THANKS FOR LISTENING AND CALLING. JOIN US AT OUR DINNERS.
AND WATCH TV ON WEDNESDAY FOR A PREVIEW OF THE FOOD AT CHERRY CREEK ART FESTIVAL ON CHANNEL 7 ON THE 11AM NEWS.

THANKS AGAIN
GABBY
