We were in Aspen at the 28th annul Food and Wine Festival hosted by Food and Wine Magazine.

My guest host was Claudine Pepin. Her father Jacque Pepin was an honored guest. Dana Cowan, editor of Food and Wine stopped by. Other guests included Laura Werlin, the Cheese Lady,

Dinner at 240 Union was fabulous. The place looks great and the service is perfect. The wine list is super, and reasonable, and the food was fantastic. We had the great warm poppyseed bread, the best fried calamari tempura, fried goat cheese fritters, and pork belly tacos. Then our entrees of halibut, cioppino and whole fish, branzini were great too. And the accompaniments perfect. We were too full for dessert-but it was all perfect.

Another perfect dinner with a totally different twist was at Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza.—what a blast-it is mobbed and so darn perfect and good. We had their famous divine chicken wings with onion and pizza toasts and then a great salad. We had the chicken sandwich (my favorite thing), and the prosciutto eggplant sandwich—these are made on their pizza dough. And we had great pizza too. We were gonna end there but did not-tiramisu and the best new dolce pizza-ricotta, honey, almonds, sugar—have no clue other than it is fabulous. And our server was a totally awesome lady.

I went to a luncheon at Elway’s Cherry Creek and what a treat. 3 of us had the new---and incredible-heirloom tomato and mozzarella sandwich-awesome- then we had the smashburger and the Asian chicken salad—everything was amazing-service too-what a treat.

Dinner at Table 6 was incredible!!!! As always everything was perfect—food, wine, service. We had the great bread and then fried green tomatoes, chicken liver pate, and green goddess salad with anchovies. Entrees were amazing chicken with a goat cheese biscuit, grilled crab tail with dumplings, and pumpkin swordfish. We ended with beignets—it was a divine night.

Barolo was fabulous, fantastic, and heavenly. Such a perfect place from the valet on. Service is perfect, the wine list incredible. We had the great breads, dip, and then the soft shell crab (amazing) and the romaine salad-also great. Then we had the guinea hen and the salmon for entrees-and we were all thrilled. Dessert was tiramisu and perfect. What a great night.

TV was super with the other side of Larimer ---they did a great job and it was super fun.

We ended the Denver part of the week at the Slider contest—Rock and fun—at Elway’s Cherry Creek. 12 of the top chefs made their own sliders and fans voted for their favorite. I have not heard who won but they were pretty terrific. Some highlights were lots of pork. A pretzel slider bun, whoopee cakes, brisket, house made sausage, and every style of preparation. It was great.
