Restaurant Show on Saturday, June 12, 2010

This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:

Part 2:

Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, June 12, 2010.

We were at Pickles. The deli next to Tipsy’s on C470. James Mazzio, chef there and future chef at Olive Oil next door when it is open was my guest. They had a farmer’s market as well. The farmers Market was inside and not as big as usual as the weather was horrible. But we are going back on August 7 as it is great.
Get over there-Friday, Saturday and Sunday with music, entertainment, great produce and foods and more. www.tipsysoutdoormarket.com

Dan from the Market and Vendor Hippo was delightful and told us all about the markets.
,James told us all about Pickles---and the sandwiches were the best ever-BLT egg salad, the best ever tuna melt, the best ever cubano, pop chips, turkey swiss, super breads, homemade foccacia by Ginger-brownies, muffins, rice cakes, and on and on—and super ice cream stand too with 16 flavors and toppings and divine. There is super coffee and tea too. What a treat-and pop and cheeses, and more.

The questions of the day: How many pickles do they use in a week-455\
In the early 90s there were 1500 Farmers Markets-how many today-6,000.

Steve Miller and Amy Smith were there with us as well and always fun.

We talked about favorite sandwiches from the past-great fun.

SHANAHAN’S IS DOING A FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL.

We went to Il Posto for dinner and it was mobbed. Good for them—and the patio was full too. We had the yummy bread, and then the calamari (signature and always good), and the zucchini appetizers. Then we had the chicken and rabbit entrees. Dessert was blueberry gelato.

We went t Argyll for dinner-on the patio and it was delightful. We had the super chips and malt vinegar that are served and then fish and chips and the salmon burger. All were very good.
Then we walked over –a half block-to the new Yogurt Guru—busy and fun-you spritz your own, add toppings and they weigh your cup to charge.

Vesta hosted the benefit for The Peak, for troubled teens, and it was fabulous. WE GOT TO SEE STEUBEN’S TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME---AND THE PULLED PORK, FRIED AND DIPPED IN SUGAR, WAS AS GOOD AS THEY SAID. Each chef did a fabulous job and it was great fun.

Lunch at Syrup was super-=-you can have breakfast or lunch anytime-so I had eggs Benedict and my friend had the chicken salad---so it was breakfast and lunch. It is bright and pretty, fun and good. The pancakes are great.

Dinner at Strings bar is my favorite time. And it was great. The wines, the company of Kris, and all the fun. We had divine food-started with warm rolls, and then the beet salad and the liver and the carrot salad and the halibut---and dessert was chocolate mousse cake with gelato—and the wines were incredible. What a treat-get there and enjoy Kris at the bar.

TV on Wednesday was great!!! We did one side of Larimer-the other coming next week.
Capital Grille, Cru—looked great-Bistro Vendome-divine—and Tamayo outrageous too.
Get on down there and wait to see what happens next week.

We had a great dinner at Sushi Sasa---and it is now bigger-and so pretty. The new addition is beautiful, the room so lovely with more seating---and there is even a private dining room for parties. The food remains great—the best. We had the clam soup, the miso soup, the great salad, and then sea bass, and 2 of the sushi dinners. We left without dessert---because—

We went and stood in line with the world to have Little Man Ice cream!!!! And Mark said it was worth it. Everyone seemed to love it.

Corridor 44 is a place that is much more than expected. We went and I knew there was a great champagne spot here-and it is---but much more. The wines, drinks, and all are super too. And the food and service really terrific. We had smoked salmon potato chips, mussels, the house salad, and lamb chop lollypops---and all were wow!!! Then we had entrees-and what a surprise as I did not know they had entrees: salmon, organic chicken with mushrooms and mashed potatoes, a fabulous steak salad, and buffalo sliders with super buns too. Everything was so good---and you can enjoy an evening here with all the fun.

We got to go to Strings and sit at the bar with Kris—our favorite treat—we supposed to be with others who canceled cuz of the weather so we got to do our favorite thing. We had great bread, warm rolls and divine wine---and super people to visit with. Appetizers were superb-one of us had gazpacho and I had divine prosciutto with melon and cucumber. The pasta course was great with vegetables raisins, and more, entrees were a choice of beef tenderloin or salmon and it was very special—a special cut too. We passed dessert as we were too full. This special dinner –a different group of choices—is every night and on Sunday it is $52.80 for two.

Robert was looking for Italian in Aurora-we did not find any but suggested Shells and Sauce-a perfect neighborhood spot.

W.R. saw an article on Rila on Arkansas and Colorado—off S. Colo. And on Arkansas-and Bulgarian spot—we did not have any answers but would love to hear.

Jackie adored the Elway’s Ritz Carlton Gabby Dinner-

Lydia wanted to know more about Shanahan’s—no chateaubriand though.

We had a great time in this super place and talked about all the gourmet preparations, the wine store too-huge and great prices—and more.

We will be in Aspen next weekend-the Food and Wine with great chefs and more with us.

Go to www.gabbygourmet.com and look at the dinners-they are fabulous!!!!

This week-Wed—TV with Larimer Square too.

Thanks for listening and calling

Gabby
