Gabby Radio Scoop

Restaurant Show on Saturday, June 5, 2010

This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:

Part 2:

Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, June5, 2010.

We were in the studio—and my guests were Brandon Beiderman of Steuben’s and Mike Seader of Mike Says on the gabby gourmet webpage.

We talked a lot about the Spot dinner for Urban Peak Monday night at Vesta—15 chefs-the new Steuben’s traveling truck-and all the money goes to Urban Peak-for kids.
The price is $65—call Vesta for details.

The question of the day-- how many sliders is Brandon making for the event on Mondya-325.

NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE AT TIPSY’S LIQUOR STORE—REALLY BY PICKLE’S DELI IN THE PARKING LOT WHERE THERE WILL BE A FARMERS MARKET, FAIR AND FESTIVAL AND FUN—FOOD TO COURSE—WE HAVE JAMES MAZZIO WITH US TOO-HE IS THE CHEF AT PICKLE’S AND WILL HEAD OLIVE OIL WHEN IT OPENS.

We had lunch at Walk In Burger and it was great!!! We had the buffalo burger, the regular divine burger, and the quinoa burger-a real favorite—some French fries made it all even better. It’s a great place.

NEXT SATURDAY COME OUT TO TIPSY’S WINE SHOP ON C-470 AND PICKLES DELI—AND COME TO THE OUTSIDE WHERE THEY ARE HAVING THE FIRST FARMER’S MARKET—AND US!!! IT IS GONNA BE ONE GREAT AFFAIR.

We went and picked up Garbanzo for dinner—yum—we all had the plates with everything on them, plus pita, chips (my fav) and lentil soup. All things were super and the plate gives you a taste of everything.

We went to Strings for dinner with a guest-and really impressed him with the great food and service-had some super wines to start. And then we had the Caesar and the fried artichokes for starters. Entrees were the halibut and crispy chicken and both were great.

We got some My mom’s Pies and they were fabulous!!!!

TV was great with Street Eats—we had the Gastro Cart, Biker Jim, Denver Cupcake, Brava Pizza, and Hosea Rosenberg with Streatchefs.

Apple Spice Junction delivered lunch again and it was great-efficient, so good and a pleasure.

We went to Panzano and had a great dinner and super time. There were incredible wines that we had—the best-ask Gary!!! The breads and dip were amazing as always and the ravioli amuse with sausage great. Then we all had the grilled Caesar salad. Entrees were the lamb special, the fettuccini with seafood, the veal scaloppini and the halibut. Dessert was tiramisu and some lovely coffer and tea.

Dinner at Fuel was incredible-and fun—and always a treat. The patio is open and super too. We had grilled bread-and then wonderful burrata with chunks of soft bread croutons and baby roasted tomatoes. Then we had black bass with ICE CREAM-yes-on top of fig preserves on grilled bread—and it was great!!!! Chives topped the ice cream too. Then we had the pork short ribs with potatoes, brick chicken with grilled eggplant and squash and tomato sauce, and polenta with spinach and mushrooms in a marinara sauce. The Basque cake with Italian cherries was beyond fabulous---and it all is so much fun.

We went to Cucina Colore for lunch and it was delightful and very good. One had the shrimp salad and the rest of us had the chicken orzo salad—we all were delighted and enjoyed the bread too. It is busy-the patio packed.

Bistro Vendome was incredible—from beginning to end—Kerry, the GM is amazing, the staff was great, the patio spectacular, and the food beyond divine. The bread comes warm, and we had the nicoise salad, the mussels, and then French onion soup, and steak tartar---all were perfect. Then we had the best trout ever, fabulous chicken, and super salmon. And the chocolate tart was unbelievable too. What a treat~!!!!!

Kathy called to rave about Aspen---and now is Viceroy
We had several calls about it. Go to Gabby dinners and find out more about the great upcoming event.

She also raved about Fuel and about Bistro Vendome.

Lou wanted vegan for a guest out south-we came up with Farro as a possibility—and said to call. There are Moroccan restaurants that could have lots including ali baba.

Abdul Ascah called about his restaurant Marrakech on 15th and Blake—he has lots of vegan.

John wanted fried green tomatoes-we came up with the great Bistro One and of course, Corafaye on 29th and Colorado.

Lydia wanted to know about Yorkshire Fish and Chips-we talked about fried oysters-I said Shanahan’s are great and we said Lola had them on the great brunch menu.

We had several other calls, and lots of conversation.

Thanks for listening

This week it is Larimer Square side one and then next week Larimer side two.

REMEMBER TO COME BY NEXT WEEK AT PICKLES. BY TIPSY’S AND SEE US—OR AT LEAST LISTEN AND CALL.
