Part 1:

Part 2:

NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE AT SAVORY SPICE AT 200 QUEBEC IN LOWRY—MEET JANET JOHNSTON STAR OF SPICE AND EASY!!! AND HER FABULOUS HUBBY AND PARTNER MIKE
AND WATCH THE SHOW ON THE FOOD NETWORK AT 7.30 SATURDAY MORNING BEFORE YOU COME.

Tuesday is the Gabby dinner at BOA—be there and have a great time with us. Do not be a no show!!!

Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday May1, 2010.

We were at the Ronald McDonald H ouse with our yearly benefit. Alex Seidel, winner of top 10 chefs in America 2010 and Fruition, and Elise Wiggins of Panzano did a cookoff.
Spices Café catered the lunches, Clemey’s ice cream was service, and Natural Grocers provided the food for the cookoff-it was great.

The people there are so wonderful and their stories very special.
The cook-off was great and the winner was Elise Wiggins-both were amazing and visited with us on air.
Nancy Flynn of Natural Grocers Vitamin Cottage was fabulous—and they are going to start writing a monthly column. The store has only natural foods and they are amazing.

Questions of the day—how many ingredients are in the tapenade they serve with the divine homemade breads at Panzano—11

How many bananas did they sell in the 36 stores at natural Grocers in 2009---1,163,327!!!

The WARWICK-hotel at Mother’s Day is a perfect choice for dining. Enjoy brunch in the beautiful room with so many choices—including a kiddie buffet which is just lower down but laden with goodies---and adults an partake too!!!! Or if you prefer, dine at Randolph’s from the regular menu—which is terrific and fun. If the weather is great, take a walk downtown—take the kids to the museum, or a stroll down the mall—or if there is a game, leave your car-the valet is complimentary, and grab the bus that goes up and down 16th St.

Strings does its annual I Remember Mama where breakfast is served to mom’s in homes, meals on wheels or wherever needed. They come all dressed up and we serve a great breakfast with many choices and the mom’s are very happy-and go home with cards, gifts and roses.
AS SOON AS THE ENDS-by 11am the doors open for guests to enjoy the incredible weekend breakfast as well as Mother’s Day specials through dinner.

Dinner at Satchel’s was great again!!! What a totally fun spot this is and the food is so terrific. We had the homemade bread, the tuna tartare and the beet salad with goat cheese to start. Then some of us had the burger and tries-yum-they had a halibut burger that was beyond divine, and the halibut entrée-all were incredible. And we had cookies for dessert-and super wine too. What a fun place this is.

We went over for Sunday breakfast to Strings-REMEMBER THEY ARE NOW DOING SATURDAY BREAKFAST TOO! AND IT WAS GREAT. The crowds are growing and folks were having a big party with an omelet station too. We had the lobster omelet, the pancakes and poached eggs-all were oh so good.

Shanahan’s proved it rates the Lombardi trophy with the Gabby dinner on Sunday night---ask any of the 65 lucky people who snagged a seat before the number of guests was topped. The food was perfect-the service incredible-the wines great---a perfect night of food and wine. We started with their great bread and then we all had the appetizer of kobe beef carpaccio and tuna tartar—amazing. Then we had a choice of the best lobster bisque or the best tomato and burrata salad-the burrata was one of the best I have seen.
Then we had our choice for entrees-the prime strip, the filet with a crab cake, the salmon, the scallops, the chicken—and huge portions of each—then we all had the best mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and grilled asparagus—and then our choice of chocolate cake or honey cheesecake with blueberry compote. As you can imagine, everyone was thrilled—and even the valets are perfect here—and parking is complimentary.

I stopped by Rise and Shine Café on 3rd and Holly—it is all about biscuits-fresh made daily-plus a flavor of the day- and sweet topped if you like-and brownies and cookies and coffee and tea—cute-order sandwiches made on the biscuit, breakfast topped with stuff-or just jam—and fun.

The day got funnier-or is it more fun-when we went to Gastro Cart on 18th & Curtis to try it. It is great-we had the lamb gyros with quinoa, the veggie spicy taco, the spicy chicken taco, and the pork carnita taco---great fun eating on the street, the curb, or taking it home.

We went to Encore and it was great. The place is comfortable, service great, super wines, and terrific food. We all had cured salmon with greens for a first course. Then we had shrimp tacos, the half chicken, and the pork and all were great. The accompaniments were super too.

Elway’s Downtown at the Ritz has added a great sushi bar along with its fabulous happy hour and bar menu. We went to try the sushi and it was great-not only delicious but presented beautifully—and the sake list is super to match with your sushi. We had all the rolls and then we had guacamole (divine), the lamb fondue (everyone’s fav), and the lobster flatbread—a must… then we had the special, lobster sliders-totally to die for!!!
And of course great wine and service make it perfect. And eating at the bar—or that area, is always fun.

TV was great with Pies—we featured My Mom’s Pies, Bang!, Posh, Shamane, and Granny Scott’s---if you want to drool, just go to TV appearances and watch the video link!!!

A busy night-Mark and friend went to Rocky Mt. Diner and had fabulous fried chicken and trout.
Then we had Mom’s pies—blueberry for dessert at home-wow!!!

I went with friends to Elway’s Partio Party and it was super with Leopold Liqueur, a whiskey, and Infinite Monkey wines. And the Denver Five passed fabulous apps.

Then we went to Strings to have a bite at the bar with Kris—always a special treat. And we had Caesar salad, the chicken, the pork belly that is beyond incredible and wow—we were full-of course, Kris’s great wines too.

Mother’s Day Fun

Silver Plume Tea Room and Antiques—such fun and a great short drive.
. The Mother's Day Tea Menu:
Blueberry Soup, Tea Sandwiches - Cucumber, Egg Salad, & Curried Chicken Salad,
Scones with Devon Cream, Lemon Curd & Jam, Lemon Bread - Pastries Cream Puffs,
Fruit Tarts, Lavender Shortbread Choice of Tea or Coffee Gerry Lemons at the Piano
It will be wonderful and beautiful. Saturday 11:30 & 2:00 and Sunday 2:00
Reservations Are Suggested and appreciated.
Thank You Sarah 303-569-2368

We went to Olivea for dinner for Project Angelheart and it was great. The place was very busy and service fabulous. We had lamb sausage, pea soup and lamb and eggplant flatbread for starters. Entrees were halibut and steelhead, and they were great. The new desserts were amazing—panna cotta, a new tart, and the best other dessert with itlalian cherries and cannot remember what.

OK THIHS IS THE WEEK TO VISIT THE CARTS!!!!

We went to Gastro Cart on 18th & Curtis the other day. It is great-we had the lamb gyros with quinoa, the veggie spicy taco, the spicy chicken taco, and the pork carnita taco---great fun eating on the street, the curb, or taking it home.

The next stop –on Friday, was BRAVA!!, the new pizza—wood –fired on 16th & Arapahoe by Lannie’s Clocktower. The oven heats to 700 degrees, the look is incredible, and the pizza was fabulous---thin crust, we had the margarita, all very fresh with Colorado ingredients when possible, and lots of love, it is a real hit and big treat.

\Then we went to Biker Jim’s Dogs—we went by the Argonaut Liquor Store on E. Colfax-the parking lot filled in a sec for fans to get the dogs!!! They have locations downtown too. They are at Argonaut on Friday, Sat and Sun. what a hoot-we had the kosher, the reindeer (divine, honest, the wild boar, the spicy red, and they change all the time. They are topped with cream cheese and sautéed caramelized onions—oh so good.

We are gonna do a longer story-and TV spot, and more on this craze. And these are OH SO WORTH THE TRIP.

We also went to Backyard Provisions—another real treat-on Wazee, it is friendly, homey, and place your order-eat in or take out some of the best sandwiches you will taste. We had the Pilgrim---turkey, stuffing, cranberry dressing—and the tuna salad with cheese, and the curried chicken. All were fabulous ---they will be on TV the last wed. in May.

The carts are coming June 2 on TV.

Denver is really having fun.

We went to the new Abrusci’s on 3rd and Fillmore in Cherry Creek. It replaces Campo de Fiori and is the sister restaurant to the one on Youngfield. They have done a great job on décor making it more friendly and warmer, carpet to take away the din, and tablecloths to make it seem a bit more upscale but casual. We had calamari and bruschetta and great bread to start. Then we had the half chicken, the chicken parmesan, the chicken marsala and the linguini with seafood. And we ended with tiramisu. They are doing dinner nightly and lunch Monday through sat. the wine list was nice, prices very reasonable, and service good too. It is a nice addition to Cherry Creek!

Kathy called about the incredible, divine, perfect dinner at Shanahan’s—and it was. She had a great meal at Encore as well- great prices, service, food, wine, and fun!!

Louise called to rave about Shanahan’s as well—the best steak she ever had-and everything else as well.

Steve had sushi at Elway’s at the Ritz and it was great===and Spice and Easy is fabulous—and so is Savory Spice!!!

We talked to many people and lots of great stories from Ronald McDonald House—and
Cork Douglass brought samples of Clemmy’s ice cream-available at King Soopers—gluten and sugar free!!!!

Thanks for listening—make your Mother’s Day reservations now.
Thanks again
Gabby
