Restaurant Show on Saturday, April 24, 2010

This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:

Part 2:

Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

We were at Randolph’s Restaurant at the Warwick Hotel on 18th and Grant.
The place is great-looking freestanding feel and the patio is outrageous.
My guests were Steve Miller, my son and cohort, \chef Garrett Whitlow, Joey Sudemeir, the gm of Randoph’s. They were great fun and so good.

303-318-7272 for reservations and information.

|The new lunch menu is totally awesome—affordable, huge portions, and the best-a sandwich board on the menu with fabulous burgers-the green chili burger on tortilla-divine-the pannini, the po-boys, the sandwich list-the salads-and there are entrees, apps and desserts too.

Mother’s day is going to be fabulous-with a special buffet-short in height size-just for kids too. Everyone will have a good time here.

The new menu for dinner is coming May 1.

There are wine tastings and dinners too.

The question of the day: how many pounds of sweet potatoes to they use in a week to make the sweet potato chips—80 lobs.

TOMORROW NIGHT IS THE GABBY DINNER AT SHANAHAN’S. WE ARE VERY EXCITED. SEE YOU THERE!!!

NEXT WEEK WE ARE AT THE RONADL MCDONALD HOUSE—THIS IS THE WEEK THERE IS A COOKOFF BETWEEN ALEX SEIDEL—ONE OF THE BEST NEW CHEFS IN AMERICA—AND ELISE WIGGINS—YOU CAN HAVE A GREAT LUNCH, WATCH THE COOKOFF AND BE PART OF THE RADIO SHOW IF YOU LIKE AS WELL. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW.
GO TO GABBY DINNERS AND NIGHT AND SEE ALL THE DETAILS

I will be back on TV this Wednesday---and we are doing pies!!!! Be sure and see the great pies and where to buy them.

Encantado was even more outrageously wonderful than last year. The resort is beyond gorgeous, the casitas divine, the service beyond!!!! And the spa, the pool, the walks, the patios, the bar, the open fires—and on and on—and cars and drivers to take you anywhere.
Charles Dale is the best chef ever and the most talented creative man. And he is charming as well. Breakfast and lunch and snacks are beyond perfect. And then the dinner
All at Terra, the restaurant that is gorgeous—again perfect service, great wines and the best food. At the gabby dinner each guest was allowed to select their 3 courses from the regular menu—and then- with the amazing wine list, the sommelier chose matching wines for each course-for each person. The person next to me who ordered different dishes was treated to wines to match her choices—and mine totally different. I have never seen this at a dinner.

The other treat in Santa Fe is Harry’s Roadhouse-not very fancy but totally mobbed at all times-very casual, no reservations, we go for breakfast and lunch on the way in and out of town---and love it all. It is very inexpensive, very fun, and fabulous.

We picked up dinner at Garbanzo when we got home—loved it. We had schwarma with chicken, rice, hummus, pita, veggie salad, toppings, falafel, chips, babaganush, tabbuleh—what fun.

The Bagel Deli is where I got lunch-and yum!!! Egg salad is divine, tuna salad as well and the turkey sandwich was full of very fresh turkey-and not to forget the beef and barley soup. The food here is the best-and carryout divine-and they do cater too.

Elway’s had a small group over for snacks and drinks and it was great. They have a great event next Wednesday, the 28th—it is the 5—denver five as I knew it—a patio party with the chefs serving their dishes and all sorts of drinks and fun. Join us all there.

Dinner at Piatti was wonderful. Isaac is great-the valet we love—and the food terrific. The bread and dip and then the spinach salad with candied nuts, pears and cheese and the sweet potato soup were oh so good. The halibut with pea risotto, the pork chop, the half chicken, and the pasta with veal meatballs were all divine. And so was the tiramisu for dessert. They are doing a three-course $20 dinner-your choice of soup or salad, any pasta in a smaller portion, and tiramisu or gelato for dessert. A glass of wine is $2 extra.
It is a great deal—and one of our group had it and it was perfect.

TIME OUT—for minor surgery
But my friend brought Elway’s Cherry Creek Salads for us for lunch-yum!!!!

We went over to Annie’s Café for dinner-not to be seen—and it was very good. The special was fried chicken and it was a big hit. We also had the club sandwich with sweet potato fries and the tuna melt and homemade chips---and then the homemade blueberry pie a la mode. A real casual comfort food meal-and a super waitress too.

We went over to the bar at Strings-and wow!!! What fun—the bar was mobbed-restaurant too-and Kris took such good care of all of us-we had the carrot salad, the skate with mushrooms, the halibut Mexican style with veggies from the Farmer’s Market, and ravioli with cheese, beets and asparagus and cream. The cake and shake for desset was the best too. And such fun to be with Kris!!!

We went to the new Pucinella Pizza off Downing. It is one room, great bar and lots of Italian wine and pizzas and pasta. Thin crust and very good, we had the margarita, the white, and my favorite, the pesto pies. We had a great Mediterranean salad and a romaine filled with mozzarella, spinach, peppers and more. They had great ravioli, lasagna, and pastas too. You can build your own or pick one of the selections here. And we ended with tiramisu—yum. The wine list has several terrific wines by the glass too. Congratulations to Tony.

Jon Emanuel called about Dining Out For Life this Thursday for Project Angelheart—dine out and 25 percent of the money for food goes to them. It is a great group.

Kathy loved Trattoria Stella East and Pulcinella’s—both for pizza and salads.

Darlene went to Indulge French Restaurant and loved it-best duck ever. And her favorite is Strings for breakfast—IT IS NOW ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!!!

Nathan wanted Cajun around here-we came up with 8 rivers. In Greeley the Bayou House is great.

Tyler CALLED ABOUT PARTIO PARTY ON THIS WED. IT IS THE DENVER 5 DOING HEAVY APPS, GREAT DRINKS AND LOTS OF FUN. IT IS $50 INCLUSIVE. CALL 303-399-5353.

Kimberly went to Tangier Moroccan at 3010 28th St. in Boulder and it was incredible.
720-621-9291

Ron talked about Masterpiece Bakery in Mission Tres-the weddings cakes looked great on the internet.

Adele wanted to know more about the buffet brunch on Mother’s Day at Randolph’s.
She was not happy with the one at the Summit.

Mary wanted Cuban—Samba Room and Cuba Cuba are great choices.
We talked about the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Guide—and the webpage where you can listen to the entire show too---

We were way out of time
Thanks for listening
Gabby
