This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:

Part 2:

Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, March20, 2010.

THIS THURSDAY IS THE 6TH ANNUAL GIVE PAWS AT GOURMET FINE CATERING WHERE WE BENEFIT THE DUMB FRIENDS LEAGUE. \THIS IS OUR 6TH AND IT IS THEIR DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY-WE ARE SO EXCITED AND IT WILL BE OUT OF THIS WORLD INCREDIBLE. THANKS FOR ALL WHO ARE COMING.

NEXT SATURDAY IS THE BIG PIE TASTING CONTEST AT STEVE’ SNAPPIN’ DOGS—IT IS 1-3 ON REMOTE THERE AND YOU WILL GET TO TASTE TOO!!!!
WE HAVE ABOUT 15 ENTRIES AND A PANEL OF JUDGES----AND YOU!!!
IT IS AT E.COLFAX AND MADISON.

My guest was Tyler of Elway’s Cherry Creek. This Thursday is our big benefit-Give Paws-for the Dumb Friends League. 100 percent goes to the cause and it is incredible. The chefs are amazing, wines too-and special auction items and events. Steven Manshel entertains-a diamond from Oster Jewelers will be auctioned to some lucky person-trip to the Broadmoor, and much more. Gourmet Fine Catering has donated its space and all the necessary items-they are amazing!!!!

The question of the day: How many meals did Elway’s serve during restaurant weeks—
7, 132.

April 28, Elway’s is doing a Denver 5 cocktail party dinner at Elway’s—it will be great-reserve early-the price is $50 including wine-tax and tip are extra.

Strings was great!!! We sat at the very busy bar-and the place was rockin—and the bar too!!!
We had the pate and the prosciutto with an egg salad for starters. Then we had chicken, cod, and liver for entrees-and all were super-and Kris was divine as always.

We went to the new Campagna on 6th and Downing. It is a perfect addition to the neighborhood with salumi, pizza and specials. The wine list is great and affordable, service very friendly and food good. We had the Caesar salad, great frito misto and divine eggplant parmesan appetizer. Then we had several pizzas with a great crust and nice toppings, and the osso bucco, and chicken cacciatore. The prices are so reasonable too. We ended with ricotta cheesecake. This should be a very popular spot for the neighborhood crowd.

We went to Root Down-always a favorite of mine---the best, most fun, super service, gret wines, fabulous food-we had carrot curry soup to start and great bread—then we had the whole artichoke and beet salad. Then we had the duck confit sliders and the veggie sliders-and the new fettucini with wild mushrooms and Brussels sprouts and cheese. Entrees were several orders of buffalo sliders, and then hot chocolate and ricotta cheesecake for dessert. See you in the hood? It is great.

Dinner at Strings was divine. We were invited and we all loved it. There was perfect service, food, and wine!!!! And a treat. We all had Caesar salads to start-and breadsticks and warm rolls. Then we had sea bass, cod, and salmon---and one pasta rustica. We all loved our meals. The apple crisp for dessert was divine and a perfect ending.

On TV on Wed on channel 7 on the 11am news, we showed the food and dishes from our chefs-and the wines-for Give Paws—it was fabulous—and so were the presentations. And Dudley was a hit-and a few of the auction items including the diamond doggy pennant from Oster jewelers.

This week we are showing foods for Passover and where to get them.

St. Pat’s Day meant we had to go back to Strings-to sit at the bar with Kris—my favorite thing to do. We love eating there!!! We had great wine, super fun service and Kris who is the best in town. We had the corned beef sliders and the corned beef sliders and the prosciutto, egg salad for starters. And then we had lamb tortellini and chicken for entrees-they were so good. Dessert was Irish trifle which was lots of chocolate, whipped cream, Bailey’s and some little four leaf clovers.

We had lunches from Café Annie that we picked up and they were great—believe it or not they were fried egg sandwiches-which were terrific and traveled well. Good for them.

We went to Barolo Grill and as usual it starts with the valet who is so welcoming and fun. And then it just rocks-with a super hostess fabulous staff, and Blair—makes for a perfect evening and then you Brian and his fabulous food and Blair’s incredible wines. We started with those and then had the pheasant salad with a quail egg, the tuna carpaccio, the hamachi, the baccala, the fabulous salumi plate, and then the amazing mini tortellini with veal—Mark changed his risotto to half and half to have more of these little gems. Then we had the sea bass, and the flatiron-both wee amazing.
The feast—and it was—ended the with pana cotta 3 ways, a fabulous pineapple dessert with gelato and dried pineapple too,
The evening was beyond incredible.

We went to Snooze for lunch-so what if the snow is coming down??? The places was so mobbed it was unreal. We had a great server-and super food. We had the barbacoa—poached eggs on muffin with slow roasted beef over-niman ranch-and great sauce, the white chocolate pancake with nuts and bacon, and the poached eggs and whole wheat pancakes-and great coffee and tea too. What fun.

Kathy called about Elway’s, Give Paws, and then Shells and Sauce and Strings. She had fabulous meals in both places.

Cat loves the Melting Pot and had a great dinner there.

Catherine wanted to know about the closing of Dolan’s—it is—and she had a wonderful meal at Opus.

Kim wanted to know about Beaver Creek and Breckenridge-we talked about Spago, Larkspur, Kelly Liken—and asked for more suggestions.

Tammy loved her visit at Cody Inn.

Lydia loved Wazee Supper Club for pizza and Café Bisque for lunch. We told her about Campagna opening.

Bonnie called about Café Alpine in Breckenridge-but it is closed. She said Columbine Café is good too.

Vivian adores La Cueva—so do wed. she wanted brunch in Boulder—we talked about Brasserie Ten Ten and Kitchen.

Dan called about sandwiches-how we love them-we were speaking about that off the air.
He had a great meal at the Crushery. Then we talked about Vert Kitchen, Masterpiece Deli, Snarf’s, and many more.
ELWAY’S HAS SOME GREAT NEW SANDWICHES INCLUDING THE ITALAIN AND THE CUBANO.

Paul loves Indulge French Bistro, great meal at Chada Thai-but not the wine, and disappointed in Il Posto with portion size and price.

Bob called about Golden to update us on a request.
Grappa’s. 13th Street Bakery, Golden Diner and Sherpa House—wow-whyat a list.

Jackie adored Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza.

We were way out of time.
Thanks for listening.

Gabby
