Brunch at Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza
2129 Larimer
303-296-7000
Saturday, February 20, 2010

It’s brunch a remote at Marco’s Saturday, February 20th. Come down and visit us during the live remote and brunch anytime. Say Gabby and get a drink (yes wine, etc) or dessert on Marco! And Rich Grant and John Imbergamo will be there too talking about Restaurant Weeks—and have gift certificates—if you are there, you can wine one to one of the great restaurants that are participating.
Make reservations to secure a seat—and remember-wow!!! Pizzas and breakfast pizzas too.

Jing restaurant in Landmark will be donating 100 percent of all that day to project Hope for Haiti relief—staff is working for free, and all food and beverage purchase for lunch and dinner will go to the cause. And read below about the fabulous food.
News around town—Mark and Isabella in Belmar closed and now Mark Tarbell has opened Home in the Streets of Southglen on S. York. I have not been there.

We went to L’atelier for a real treat for us and friends. And it was heavenly of course. Service is perfect, the wines outrageous, and the place gorgeous. We had the warm great bread and array of amazing appetizers—crawfish salad with crawfish whole, mussels (the best), duck, sweetbreads with potato foam, and all wonderful and gorgeous. Then we had scallops with risotto, duck and duck with cassolet, rack of lamb with lentils and sweet potato cake---again beyond marvelous. And so were the desserts: warm chocolate cake a la mode, cherries and chocolate, apple bread pudding, and opera cake---and I forgot the potato chips that come with the crawfish salad are the best thing ever. It is a special treat that everyone should try—and prices are reasonable too.

Strings was so great for breakfast-hope you all come to our brunch. We had the fireman’s eggs-sunny side up eggs in brioche toast with bacon and spinach and the omelet.

Colt & Gray was so busy on a Sunday night-good for them. And we had a terrific time. We love the rolls served here-baguettes warm and delicious form the oven. Then we had the beet salad with cheese, and the olives. Entrees were the turkey burger, the pork chop, the cioppino, and the trout. We were all pleased with our choices and too full for dessert.

We went to Steuben’s for lunch-on MLK day-and you could not get near it. The patio was open too-what fun!!! The ladies had the tuna nicoise salads and the salmon salads-and lots of good food and fun.

Chili Verde for lunch was great too. Everyone had the enchiladas mole and the flan.—it is great and such fun.

We went to Red Tango for dinner-what nice people-great service and terrific wines and prices too. Dinner was excellent. we had the great bread and salads first-then we had salmon, the veggie plate that was terrific, and the ravioli with blackened chicken. Dessert was Argentinean tiramisu.

The Gabby dinner at House was great fun. The place is totally casual and welcoming and the dinner fit the scene—and everyone had a very good time. The wine flowed!!! We had delicious salmon pizza first and then a choice of Caesar salad or tomato soup. The entrees were your choice of salmon, chicken, or pork and all were delighted with the choices and dinners. And the best ---THE HOMEMADE PIES WERE DIVINE-FRESH BLACKBERRY PIE!!!! OR APPLE PIE—A LA MODE AND DIVINE.

TV was great fun showing off burgers-and more burgers-5 Guys burger and fries, Smashburger, Big Jim’s Burger Haven, Gunther Toody, and Culver’s were the ones-all are very inexpensive and fun.

SALT in Boulder is beyond fabulous. Bradford Heap has done it again from beginning to end. The place is gorgeous-was Tom’s Tavern and completely redone it is gorgeous-using all the old elements and adding great details it is gorgeous—in a casual way. The food is incredible too. We had flatbread pizza from the wood burning oven, pear and plenta (his signature), and a fabulous cheese platter to start. Then we had the squash salad, celery soup and the best tomato soup ever with a mini grilled cheese sandwich. Entrees were rotisserie chicken from their fabulous rotisserie which goes over wood too-and the wood fired grill is amazing-the cod and steak from that were awesome. And so was the risotto nero with scallops. Dessert was a chocolate caramel salt tart to die for with gelato. The wines were fabulous and service too and prices are affordable.

Another favorite is Parallel 17 and it was fabulous. And they were giving 20 percent of all the meals and drinks yesterday and today to Haiti. We had a fabulous meal. We started with vegetarian spring rolls, tuna tacos and prawns on forbidden rice. Entrees were the pho, the tuna nicoise and duck three ways. Every dish is beautiful and so full of flavor and so generous in size. Wines are great and there is a super happy hour too. The staff rocks and service is wonderful. It is a real treat.

We went to the new Eggshell in Cherry Creek-at 235 Fillmore-and a treat. It is bright, open, and on the street!!!! Nice white linens, a terrific menu with breakfast and new lunch features including pannini and great sandwiches and more. Prices are nice and service is great. We ended up with the breakfast side with eggs, pancakes and all those good things—but really did not see all the new stuff till later-we will go back.

Jing—Jing was beyond incredible. The food, service, and every detail was perfect-so were the wines and sake. We had the sushi-the best-caterpillar roll, tempura tuna sushi, sashimi, and then chicken dumplings. Then we had spicy beef, fabulous chicken, fried rice, and Peking duck—and the best sea bass too. Desserts were warm chocolate cake, gelato, banana cream spring rolls—everything was incredible.

We talked about Jing, the restaurant Salt, the new Ocean Prime and Euclid—coming in several months.

We talked about Deluxe Burgers and H Burgers
And will keep you posted on all.

Thanks again to Steve’s Snappin’ Dogs for a great job today.
And to all the great places that entered.

Gabby
