We went to
Shells and Sauce for a birthday dinner and it was so great. The Christmas decorations are super, the food and service as terrific as always. We had the Caesar salad—all of us—and then 4 of us had the lasagna. The other entrees were vongole and grilled salmon---and all were so good. We ended with tiramisu and a special Greek dessert. That place just stays great.

Earl’s opened in Cherry Creek and we went for dinner. It is huge, very pretty and so much nicer looking than its predecessors. We had a super server-lorenzo!!! Ask for him. We had the Caesar salad and the steak frites and the chicken club with yummy green beans and the Santa Fe salad which was great. The staff is very friendly and informative and efficient!! It is open late every night except Sunday.

The Gabby dinner at
Mamma Mia was great fun and the folks in that area were so thrilled—to have one close to their home. We had homemade breads, wine, and tomato bread soup to start. Then the spinach dumplings with ricotta were great. Entrée was a beef with polenta. And the dessert was a cassata cake.

Wednesday on
Channel 7, at the 11am news, we did great Mac and Cheese—we had Mizuna, Steuben’s, D-Bar Desserts, and Argyll Gastropub—and wow they were great.

Ernie’s opened in the old Three Sons space on 44th and Federal and we went for a night of fun-and some really good food. The décor is fabulous-a warm neighborhood bar with seating for 190! It’s loud and great. We had the antipasti-you pick from a long list of goodies and cheeses and meats and dig in-we had the beets, the smoked white fish, the oven dried tomatoes, the eggplant capanata and the prosciutto—a lot but a lot of fun for sharing. Then the Caesar salad and don’t miss the grilled cheese sandwich-and the fried pizza dough looked great too. Then we had pizza-the white and the margarita-and then a bit of gelato for dessert-hear the tiramisu is fabulous—and the wines are super with great prices too. It is just plain pizza fun-and a real neighborhood treat.

We went to
Assignments at the Art Institute Culinary School,. I had not been forever and even thought it had closed-which it did for a time. The restaurant is now open again on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for lunch and dinner. The staff and students are doing a great job—much more fun than before with a great menu, lovely wines at super prices, and service very professional. We had an amuse of beets and goat cheese and then we all had the Caesar salad prepared tableside—and it was delicious. Then we had chicken, pork chop with the best fries, a delicious steak with mushroom sauce, and lamb chops. All were excellent and came prepared as ordered with temperature and every detail. And the dessert was a divine sticky toffee pudding that not only was wonderful but beautiful. It is really a treat.

We went to
Elway’s Cherry Creek for lunch and had a ball. The place was mobbed and service was great-the food super. We had the cherry creek salads and the grilled chicken sandwich with my favorite potato chips-I am addicted to them. And then we all had chocolate chip cookies, straight from the oven, for dessert. And a glass of la crema wine made it even better.

Dinner at
Fuel was great. The wines were super-our waitress divine-she made a great meal even better!!! Tania was her name. we had so much-sharing cheese beignets, marrow bones, grilled bread, winter vegetable salad, and the best gnocchi. Then we shared the cod with cauliflower risotto and the boar. Desserts were great too with a chocolate roulade and Turkish coffee pot de crème. It was all wonderful.

We had callers talk about how great
Steuben’s is—the tomato soup is great, Argyll, great food and great service, Shells and Sauce where the food is terrific and service wonderful.
And the
Summit is open for Christmas.

And we talked about tea spots including the
Brown Palace. There is Silver Plume antique and tea, Capital Tea, House of Commons, and a great one in Monument too.

We talked all about books, the Tattered Cover and their great selection of anything and how wonderful they are.
We talked about new menus at
Vesta, Steuben’s and Root Down.

And be sure and go to Gabby Dinners to see the new dinners and great ones coming..

JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY FOR LE CHATEAU---IT IS THE BIGGEST BARGAIN AND THE BEST FOOD.

Thanks for listening and calling.

Gabby
