This week's PLAYBACK
Part 1:
Part 2:
We were at
Annie’s Café
on E. Colfax and St. Paul—a divine spot for
inexpensive fabulous food-breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. And so
good-we are having a dinner here too.
My guests were owners
Peggy Anderson
and Diane Williams. We had fabulous
breakfasts and lunches there and heard all about the specials, the
dinners and all the fun-and HAPPY HOUR TOO!!!!
THE GABBY DINNER
BRONCO FANS DELIGHT-WE ARE DINING RIGHT IN THE BAR WITH TVS EVERYWHERE-
AND IT IS BREAKFAST AND MORE!!!!
A four course dinner with several great specials---and BURGERS AND FRIES
AND MORE FOR THOSE WHO WANT BURGERS AND BEER INSTEAD OF THE burritos,
sausage, egg, pancakes, bacon, omelets, and more!!! There is something
for everyone. Read it on the web under dinners.
Pamela Pollart, my traveling pal on our cruise, stopped by and we told
about our trip.
The questions of the day.—How many miles did we go on the ship-3,064 and
how many eggs does Annie’s use on a Sat/Sun-2,740.
You can read all about our trip in the feature article on the homepage
so we will start with getting home.
We went to
Strings
for our traditional evening of break the fast with
our family. Our dinner was incredible. We had the vegetable beef soup,
the Caesar salad, the special salad with cranberry vinaigrette and goat
cheese, angel hair marinara, gnocchi, barramundi to die for, chicken
with an egg—all so good. Desserts were chocolate mousse cake and
chocolate pecan pie. Service was perfect too. We took home the new
curried chicken salad for lunch the next day.
We went to
Colt & Gray
for dinner and it was great again. The place is
great looking, we had excellent service and wine and food was terrific.
We had the warm rolls, gravlox and the new gnocchi and all were
wonderful. Then we had the pork chop, salmon, trout and duck for entrees
and beets and broccoli for sides. All were excellent.
We went to
Shells and Sauce
for dinner-what a great neighborhood
restaurant-or any neighborhood would welcome it-so good, great service,
super bar and wine, fabulous food, good prices-it is great AND NOW THEY
ARE DOING LUNCH EVERY DAY!!!!
We started with the homemade bread and Caesar salad-and house salad too.
Then we had veal parm, eggplant parm—both the best ever-and then someone
had the grilled chicken plate and said it was the best ever too!!! So
lots of best evers there-and then pumpkin pie for dessert-fall is in the
air.
A luncheon at
Sewall Ballroom for Center for Women’s Health Research
was
huge—the speakers were very interesting and the event worthwhile.
We went to Root Down
for dinner-nothing to say other than fabulous, the
best, great fun, wonderful service, and marvelous food-this place just
plain rocks!!! We had the bread, the apple, candied walnut, pancetta
salad and the plum salad and both were incredible. Then we had the
scallop and plum soup combo. We all ordered the Moroccan chicken entrée
and it was the best chicken and polenta ever. We were too full for
dessert-the place is mobbed and everyone is happy!!! We are too.
We were so excited about
Shells and Sauce
opening for lunch we headed
over—and WOW!!!! It will blow your mind-the food is great, service too
and the prices and portions are something. Panini and salads and pasta
and more-we had the salmon pannini with fresh cherry tomato salsa and
with side of salad and the Caesar salad with shrimp-both were
outrageous. I can hardly wait to go back-and I know I should try
something else but the panini with salmon was just the best. They are
open Tuesday through Friday for lunch and then brunch on Saturday and
Sunday.
We went to 1515 Restaurant
for dinner and it was great. The place looks very
pretty, the service is perfect, the wines are amazing and Gene wins
every award for his great list-we had a fabulous wine-and the food was
marvelous too. We had an amuse of quail roulade and warm breads and then
2 incredible special salads-one with apples and walnuts candied, cheese,
etc and the other with plum and goodies. Then we had the scallop
appetizer and the sweetbread satay---both were great! Entrees were
risotto, duck three ways, halibut, and pork belly and all were fabulous.
Desserts were an ice cream sandwich and peach tart-again-both winners.
1515
is so worth the visit.
Kathy called about Strings
brunch—it is fabulous, about
Colt and Gray
and how great it is and the fabulous food at
Shells and Sauce—lunch too.
Noel Cunningham
called about a walk challenge happening. Please go to
Cunningham foundation.org
and see all the details-it is so worth while
to raise money for his city in Ethiopia.—or call Strings.
Mike went to
1515
and loved it-food, wine and service.
Diane loved the
Julia and Gabby dinner at Strings, the fabulous dinner
at
Ling & Louie’s, and adored
Red Tango.
Maryann went to Root Down
and she and her friends from Seattle said they
had never had a better meal. It was awesome.
And the Moroccan chicken I spoke about was from Root Down.
Rae went to
Strings
and loved it.
Susan went to
Elway’s
and said it was the best.
Gwynne went to
Shells and Sauce
for lunch and was beyond impressed and
thrilled.
We ran out of time.
Next week we will be in Aspen on remote and to see the
John Denver
Concert Reunion
so please listen in for the latest.
Thanks
Gabby
