Mexican Cuisine Rocks at Chili Verde

Chili Verde brings a new dimension to the meaning of Mexican food

Chili Verde
3700 Tejon Street
303-477-1377

Chili Verde is a great new Mexican restaurant with a definite twist. The space looks terrific with white walls, emerald green accents and bright colors. Tables are set with white linens, definitely upscale in the small area, with super lighting over each table. Andres Yanes and his sons Eder Yanez-Mota and Hanzel Hanes-Mota make you the most welcome guest in their “home” as they serve the special dishes of their native Puebla with great pride. The food shines. Start with homemade chips and three different sauces as you decide on your meal. Do not miss the divine ceviche with the right amount of spicy and tang. Guacamole is prepared tableside to your taste---we left it to Eder and loved it. Other great appetizers include flautas, oysters, calamari, choriqueso, and quesadillas. Soups and salads feature caldo tlalpeno (spicy chicken soup), pozole, caldo de shrimp and taco salads. Carne Asada, steak poblano, and the Chili Verde plate of chopped pork with salsa verde start the entrée list. Shrimp comes with your choice of several preparations: chipotle, with garlic sauce, or with butter. Chile rellenos done Puebla style are not to be missed, poblano crepes with shredded chicken topped with cream and poblano sauce, and enchilada mole are outrageous with great flavor accents that make one savor every bite. End with decadent desserts of caramel crepes, flan, tres leches cake, and chimichangas with almonds and chocolate topped with ice cream and strawberries. There is a nice wine list to complement the food. Service is great, the place casual, and prices affordable. Chili Verde, with terrific food and a wonderful family feel, is one great place to be and worth a visit from wherever you live. Once you visit, you’ll go back for more.
