Viand takes the place of La Fondue and has been redone and brings Modern American delights to the place. The décor is contemporary with lots of beige, big windows in front, and comfortable tables and booths through the room. A huge bar is next to the main dining room and a great place to gather for drinks, dinner, or happy hour snacks. Warm bread is served as you peruse the menu and the new design is lots of shared plates as well as entrees so theater goers and regular guests can enjoy many tastes. Start with butternut squash soup steak tartar, spicy mussels, whiskey pork belly, and delicious wild mushroom toast. The autumn Brussels sprouts salad is work the visit with frisee, bacon lardoons, a fried egg and mustard vinaigrette. The Caesar is very special as well. And of course there is a charcuterie plate to entice all. Entrees bring a perfectly cooked filet, squash risotto, seared lamb and crispy duck. The whole Colorado bass is a must as is the pork tenderloin. Each dish has complementary sides that accent the flavors and taste of the protein. Entrees are available in full or half portions, a wonderful option. Don’t miss decadent desserts that range from panna cotta and chocolate to apple tart with ice cream. The wine and cocktail list as excellent as well. Service is very friendly and nice. With many options, excellent food, and nice prices, Viand is a great choice. Remember they have valet parking and will keep your car if you attend the DCPA, so enjoy your main meal and stop by for dessert after.
