2nd & Union
Fans from all over come to enjoy cutting-edge cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere at this Lakewood gem. After 25 years, 240 Union remains tops in food, wine and service. Owner Michael Coughlin celebrates this milestone with an amazing new look. The décor is sophisticated and lively. An open kitchen spans the length of the room, and wood panels representing Colorado’s mountains nicely divide the space. An elegant bar with granite, steel and great panels is the spot for gathering or dining. A private wine/dining room offers alternate seating options for parties or dining. There is a stunning private dining room in the rear. The colors of gray and charcoal with white, great art, and awesome lighting welcomes diners. Nicely spaced cloth-covered tables and chairs add to the comfort. Michael and his talented executive chef tie all the elements together to bring you an exceptional dining experience. The wine list is excellent, and the wait staff is well-trained, friendly, and informative. The homemade poppy seed focaccia is the best, warm from the oven. The rotating seasonal menu brings interesting delights at each change. Appetizers include amazing calamari tempura, mussels, a must-have pulled pork taco, tuna tacos, chicken wings done in Indian spices with riata, and a lobster corn dog. Salads of Boston Bibb with hearts of palm, cukes and quinoa, and farm mixes along with ever-changing soups make a great second course. Pasta dishes shine: linguini with clams, mezzaluna with veal sausage, capellini with shrimp, along with several choices of pizza. Entrées bring a whole fish roasted in the brick oven, spit-roasted half chicken, salmon, halibut, and cioppino. Other options include chicken-fried lobster tail, a bone in rib eye, lamb duo, and the signature pistachio-crusted pork chop with risotto. The list makes decisions impossible. End with glorious desserts such as sticky toffee pudding, chocolate silk or Key lime pie and crème brûlée. Lunch, brunch, and Sunday night prime rib specials are more temptations. With excellent food presented beautifully with exciting sides, great wine and cocktails, and delightful hospitality, 240 Union is one of the best choices for dining on the west side.
