Fast Food Goes Upscale

Apple Spice Junction, Garbanzo, Back Country Provisions
Summer places when you are on the go

Apple Spice Junction
43 W. 9th Ave
Denver
303-623-0525

Apple Spice Junction brings new and fun dining options to Denver. Just west, one block off Broadway, the place is very welcoming with a bright décor, big windows, and comfortable seating for dining. Place your order at the huge counter where you find the menu on a wall board, and relax as the food is prepared. The sandwiches are great: roast beef, curry chicken, turkey avocado, baked ham, BLT, club, turkey, pastrami and Swiss, and egg salad. The list goes on with salads that shine as well. The breads are baked in house and matched to the sandwich of your choice. Apple Spice also specializes in delivery, a wonderful option and does so in the best way. Your orders are delivered in boxes with sides and cookies and with a smile—perfect for office, meetings, and home. They do catering as well. Apple Spice Junction is a huge addition to the dining scene filling a need with great food and terrific service.

Garbanzo
630 S. Colorado Blvd
Glendale, CO 80246
PHONE: 303-757-5900

Multi locations

Enter the bright restaurant and enjoy the colors and the huge open kitchen counter with seating throughout the room as well. As you go through the line, you pick your pita, then your protein; next add all the different toppings and then the sauces. The meals are prepared as you watch, and when done, eat in or carry out. The big problem is deciding on what to put into your pita. Choose pita, plate or wrap. Add chicken or steak shwarma, falafel, or hummus and salad for vegetarians. Next add any or all: seasoned rice, lettuce, vegetable salad, cabbage, babaganoush, tabuleh, hummus, pickled eggplant or pickles---or all of them. Now you have to decide on sauces that include cilantro, garlic, tahini, green or red chili. Extras are grilled eggplant, hard boiled egg, and hummus toppings. At the end of the line, your shwarma is ready for you to enjoy. There are also soups or individual sides of the great fillers. A special touch happens as each guest gets a falafel to nosh on as you watch the fun. Garbanzo is rockin’ the town with the great food, and a lot cheaper than a trip abroad.

Back Country Provisions
1617 Wazee Street
Denver
303-534-7900

LoDo welcomes a new concept that offers diners a perfect spot for breakfast and lunch. As you enter the restaurant, you feel that “back country” with wood walls, booths for seating, and that very casual feel. Read the menu on the board and place your order at the counter. Eat in or carry out, either way the food is great. The sandwiches are on terrific breads matched to the filling. The Pilgrim brings Thanksgiving every day with turkey, stuffing, and cranberries, or order plain turkey, club sandwiches, chicken, and more. There are tuna and chicken salads that fill the bread, tomato and mozzarella, beef, and so many choices that decisions are difficult. Several salads please the non-bread eaters. Order a cookie for dessert if you have a sweet tooth. Back Country Provisions is a great alternative for really good food in LoDo for daytime dining.

Sketch
101 Broadway
Denver
303-484-9305

Wine bars are the rage and Sketch presents one that is hard to beat. The setting is fabulous with high ceilings with beautiful molding, comfortable banquette seating with great chairs, a stunning translucent look on the walls, and terrific chandeliers. Another section of the space features a beautiful bar with a knock-out wall of wine bottles and the salumi station open to the guests. The feature is wine, beer and a house special “sangria” that is heavy on the alcohol, very tasty and wicked. Chef/Partner Sean Yontz designed a menu that matches the wine list perfectly. The salumi section of jamon, prosciutto, chorizo, carpaccio, salame, foie gras and capicola offers many options. Pair them with an amazing assortment of the very best cheeses. Accompaniments of lavash, figs, apples, almonds and olives complement the food. End with El Rey Venezuelan chocolate and Amarena cherries, and a paired wine. A quick breakfast and lunch has been added with great Panini that please those in the area The breakfast Panini are incredible with eggs, cheese, lox and bagel, and even delicious outmeal. Sketch is casual, sophisticated, a taste of Italy, and with this latest concept, Owner/Partner Jesse Morreale brings an exciting hot spot to spend the evening and stay into the wee hours of the morning.
