240 Union gets better with age

What a treat to dine at 240 Union

240 Union
240 Union Blvd.
Lakewood, 80228
303-989-3562

Fans from all over come to enjoy cutting-edge cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere at this Lakewood gem. Though many new restaurants continue to open, 240 Union remains tops in food, wine and service. Few other places manage to stay as up-to-date and maintain as loyal a clientele. The décor is sophisticated, yet lively. An open kitchen spans the length of the room, and wood panels representing Colorado’s mountains nicely divide the space. An elegant bar and private wine/dining room offer other seating options. Owner and front-of-the-house man Michael Coughlin and the executive chef tie all the elements together to bring you an exceptional dining experience. The wine list is amazing, and the wait staff is perfect, always around but never intrusive. The homemade rolls are the best, warm from the oven and so divine. The rotating seasonal menu brings interesting delights at each change. Appetizers include sizzling shrimp, salmon sliders with chutney, spicy calamari, fabulous flatbread, and delicious quesadillas. Roasted beets of yellow and red with crispy onions and goat cheese, a salad of greens with poached pears and dried cranberries, and greens with an assortment of veggies are show stoppers. Entrées bring a whole fish roasted in the brick oven, spit-roasted half chicken, grilled salmon with fingerling potatoes, coffee glazed duck with divine parmesan grits, and a pork chop with risotto. Other options include scallops, fish, lamb and beef. Don’t forget pastas and pizzas from the brick oven. End with glorious desserts such as sticky toffee pudding, chocolate silk pie, key lime pie and crème brûlée. With excellent food presented beautifully with exciting sides and delightful hospitality, 240 Union is a terrific place to go.
