Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, June 25, 2011. My guests are Rons! Ron Robinson and Ron Piscatelli from BW Holdings.....better know as Breckenridge Brewery and Wynkoop Brewery joint venture Lunch at Larkburger is always great—we both had the tuna burgers, fries, and malts-yum. Dinner at Root Down was heavenly as usual---and the place was mobbed on a Monday too. We had some great wine-and then the bread-well the butter worth the trip—then we had the 2 soups, the zucchini salad, and then risotto, areyapas, duck sliders, and so much more. The cobbler for dessert was divine but the chocolate covered potato chips the best. We went to the Pinyon in Boulder ---it is very different. The place is quite simple, the folks very nice. The menu is very short with few options but the food was very good. It is a problem to find your favorite dish. The fried chicken is worth the trip and the housemade cheese great. Then we enjoyed a salad, and rabbit and steak entrees. TV was great fun with the first round of Food Trucks-they were great. We had Pinche Taco-great tacos and they are opening a restaurant on E. Colfax and York-yeah for us. Then came Stick It To Me—such fun-Nate and Ezra are great the food too—we had the chicken salad, the Korean beef on a stick, fried mashed potatoes, pork sandwich and smores. Yummy! On to Steuben’s with the pulled pork sandwich, the wedge, the aqua fresca, and the new fries with green chile and béchamel—how decadent-and yes they have burgers. Last and yummy good was GiGi’s Cupcakes—great flavors-chocolate salted caramel. Pecan pie, margarita, banana split, and on and on. Then we had lunch at D-Bar Desserts and it is just the best. We were sort of full from the tastes but the salad with grilled chicken and the grilled Caesar were both fabulous. Dinner at Shells and Sauce is always a treat-and Andrew was there to care for us at the bar—great summer wine time. We had the fabulous bread and dip and Caesar salads to start. Then we had the veal parmesan, the lamb chop special, and the salmon for entrees. We shared tiramisu for dessert-and yummy wines too. Lunch at Strings was great fun on the patio –love summer. We had the soup special, and then the bbq chicken salad and the chicken breast on greens salad. And Patrick!!! Off for a fix at Bittersweet-it is a must have place. The patio is gorgeous, the inside great, the service perfect, and wines and food divine. Several of us had the same items---wine of course with the great bread that changes daily. Then we had the gazpacho-not like you know and it is amazing. Then we had the amazing salmon and outrageous duck---and the totally awesome chocolate 3 ways for dessert. This is so damn good. We had lunch at Cool River and had a lovely time. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was terrific. We had the pork chop with sweet potatoes and the mango chicken salad. They do served bread without asking as well. And there is a patio. We went to Barolo Grill for yet another anniversary dinner—ours—and it was fabulous. We had great wine, food and perfect service-and sat at a table too. We had the fabulous breads, and the fritto misto and soufflé with gorgonzola to start. Then we had several orders of guinea hen and one of pappardelle-both dishes were amazing. and so was the chocolate dessert-and all. The place will be closed until July 6 as the staff goes to Italy—and Suzanne comes back to be in charge of the redecorating going on while they are gone. It will be very exciting with new décor, food and all when they return. Now on to the show........
