We were at Rioja again as our list visit did not have the best audio.

My guests were Jennifer Jasinski, Beth Gruitch, Rich Grant, John Imbergamo and Patty Calhoun of WEstword. All were a treat and we had a great time-

The talk was basically about Restaurant Week which happens for another whole week.

The question of the day for Euclid Hall-dinner was how many pounds of potatoes have they used for French fries just for restaurant week so far. 1,327.

The girls own Rioja, Bistro Vendome and Euclid Hall.

NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE AT THE NEW RESTAURANT SE7EN AT 925 Lincoln-corner in the Beauvallon---it is fabulous Chinese and they will have all sorts of specials available. They are also doing a Gabby dinner.

The first night of Restaurant Week and we went to Cholon---they may be the new guy in town but they wowed the fans with an amazing dinner and what a great deal-food, wine, service perfect and place was mobbed. We started with wines and the rice bread and dip and then soup dumplings, pork belly pot stickers, egg dip with bread, and divine chicken wings. Then we had the lamb and the chicken and the fried rice with a poached egg and the amazing Brussels sprouts. Then we ended with the chocolate lava cake with salted peanut butter ice cream and caramel and the fried donuts with coffee ice cream. It was truly great. Good for them.

We had brunch on the new brunch menu at Elway’s Downtown and it was great-super service, great food-and never ending mimosas too!!! We tried lots-the benedicts-yum-the eggs Acapulco, biscuits and gravy, the chicken fried steak and egg burrito and the breakfast of bacon and eggs-and all come with fruit and biscuits-coffee and tea are great too.

We went to 5280 week at Strings and what a great night. The wines are so good and then we had 4 courses here-we chose the shrimp and the divine beet salad with cheese and endive to start. Then we had the farfalle and risotto next. Entrees were salmon, duck, and tenderloin and all were so great. We ended with pineapple upside down cake and chocolate divine. Service was perfect too.

We had breakfast/lunch at Jelly-such a fun place on 13th and Pearl—we both went for Breakfast-we had the turkey and egg hash, and the scrambles with dried tomatoes, basil and goat cheese—both come with biscuits-homemade-toast-and great potatoes. The place is really fun and so good.
Pizzeria Basta is about the neatest place ---in Boulder, in a funny spot=you will know the way and never forget it once you get there. It is in the Peleton apt. complex—and it is wow. Kelly, Owner Chef-Justin waiter, and all the rest are terrific. It is one room and fabulous with its wood burning pizza oven-where they cook everything. We started with super wine and then we asked the chef for a sample of the lunch sandwiches-they are heavenly with pulled pork and a veggie version on their pizza bread—and potato salad. Then we had soup, the beet salad, the best wood grilled veggie salad (worth the trip), and then we had the short ribs with potatoes and horseradish crème fraiche. Another not to miss treat. But the pizzas are outrageous-crust perfect!!!! In the oven, they arrive a bit chewy, thin, but still just crisp and cooked perfectly. We had the daisy (red with mozzarella), the white ( I love white), and the special with mozzarella, Brussels sprouts, Fruition farms cheese and lots more. They were all divine. And so was dessert. It is a must here with homemade gelato-maple candied speck, wood grilled vanilla, chocolate hazelnut, and the divine caramel with salt. And then we had biscotti and tiramisu and coffee- we needed to walk home-but loved every minute and can hardly wait to go back.

We stopped at the Original Pancake House on our way to the station—we had to leave before ordering cuz of a mix up but went back and were welcomed. We had the Swedish pancakes with an egg-they are great—and a fabulous baked omelet-wish I knew how to make them—with pancakes—and then remembered it was national pancake day—so glad we celebrated!!!

We went to the Sassy Ladies Beer Club—first night and demo and had a great time. The ladies were all great and we tried lots of beers-served with cheese-very different-not sure I love beer and cheese but loved the night. Then we stayed and had burgers, ahi sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and a salad with friends. This was all at Highland Tap & Burger and was great—they do such a super job!!!!

TV was great—we featured more restaurants from 5280 week and all look so good-Randolph, Assignments, the Fort, Indulge and Shazz were there.

Then I had lunch with a lovely lady at D-Bar Desserts-first we got to see Keegan and Lisa-always so great and such a treat. Then we had super food—we had the BLT with avocado and cheese and the ham and cheese Panini with salads-the salad dressing is incredible-along with everything else-and the chocolate cake too.

Dinner at Fruition again---and of course, perfect is the description. It was not in Restaurant Week but mobbed. We had the great breads, oysters wrapped in potato, a parmesan bread pudding and then sea bass, lamb, and pasta. And we ended with the signature lemon meringue tarts. Wines were great, service, and all—just heavenly.

We went to Mizuna for Restaurant Week and it was incredible—FYI—THERE ARE SEATS AT THE BAR AT THESE PLACES-SO WALK IN AND YOU CAN ENJOY THE DINNERS AT THE BAR—
The food and service were great and they featured a $10 flight of wines that was really good and fun with the food. We had the homemade breads, onion soup with veal and divine gougere, and foie gras appetizers. Then we had the sea bass and the duck for entrees and both were amazing. Dessert for all was a delicious panna cotta with apricots and nuts—and cookies for all. It was a real treat.

Twice in one week!!!! Got to go to the pancake House again and we all had omelets and pancakes—yum!!!!

We went to Tables for dinner and it was great. They are not doing 5280 but were doing a $35 special---we did not have it but had a great dinner. We started with the Caesar and the sweetbreads. Then we had quail, chicken, and trout and all were divine. The s’mores for dessert was totally decadent and outrageous-and delicious. It is a truly great spot.

Monica called and has enjoyed Waffle Bros for breakfast. For Restaurant Week she loved Oceanaire and thought Elway’s Cherry Creek was incredible. She had lunch at Euclid Hall and loved it too.

Kathy had great 5280 dinners at Strings and at Elway’s Cherry Creek.

Coni went to breakfast at Caitlin.

Celeste adored the food and service and fun at 5280 week at Elway’s Cherry Creek.

Thierale went to Colt and Gray—the best—and to Kevin Taylor at the Opera House, and Capital Grille so far. C & G won so far.

Peggy wants to know where to go—we said go to denverrestaurantweek.com and look at all the menus and then try to get in.

Kathleen wanted a place in Loveland—we got Sugar Beet and Terrior in Longmont but not Loveland-we talked about Boulder-Pizzeria Basta, Pinyon’s, Frasca, Oat on 14th.

Patty went to Kevin Taylor and said it was perfect. She loves the Cheese Importers in Longmont too.

Char went to Kevin Taylor—great food-slower service—Strings—PERFECT—and Randolph’s was very good but they had an add on price. We explained that many places do but there were 3 entrée choices.

Laura called to tell us about Inglenook in Loveland-530 Cleveland and it is small, upscale and marvelous.

Stu wanted to know about Vita Bella on S. Kipling-we did not know but the menu sounds great. He loves the lamb Burger at H Burger.

Lee adored Elway’s Downtown and plans on going back throughout the year—he had no idea it was that reasonable and fabulous and welcoming and great.

Hedy went to fogo de Chao—liked it but said the salad bar might have been not the same. She is going to Shanahan’s tonight.

Maryann adored Meritage and went to 5280 on a Wed. when they sell all wines half price so she really loved it. She is going to Flatz this week.

We were way late and had to go.

Thanks to all for listening and calling and talk to you next week from Se7en at 925 Lincoln. Come by and see us.
And we want full reports of Restaurant Week again.

Thanks
Gabby
