Here’s the Scoop from the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Show on Saturday, December 25, 2010.
Christmas Day and a treat for us to be with you.
My guests were Rod and John from the new Waffle Brothers on 393 Corona—open daily for brk and lunch—and Steve and Joey Miller, and Trisha and kids. –lots of folks around to have a great holiday.
The questions of the day
How many pounds of strawberries do they use on a weekend---75
How many lbs. of sugar do they import from Belgium each year—4,000.
We talked about the gluten-free, the special sugar, the original, the whole wheat, and all the special waffles—and the great sandwiches too. And they do fabulous catering as well. It is so great-and they are open every day from 7am till 6pm—a bit later opening on Sunday but get there. It is a super spot.
NEXT WEEK WE ARE AT MY FAVORITE, BAGEL Deli on E. HAMPDEN AND MONACO—COME BY AND FEAST ON THE BEST SANDWICHES, BREAKFASTS, AND ALL. WHILE WE ARE ON THE AIR FROM 1-3 PM.

You are in for a unique dining experience at Orchard Wine and Cheese. This dinner though not like the others will take you on a food and wine journey that will tantalize your taste buds.
Adam and Barney are selecting two unique wines to go with each course. For the non-wine drinker they have Italian sodas handmade with creative ingredients. Our meal will consist of a tapas style menu including meats, cheeses, soup, and a delicious ending of chocolate fondue.
Seating is limited; book now. This is one dinner you won’t want to miss! The price is $33 including tax, tip and wine.
John was going home—tomorrow-and we had lots of things to do before he left. We brought dinner in from Chipotle and it was great. We had the bowls-one with more rice and beans, one with more lettuce, both with chicken and different salsas and dressing. The burrito was fabulous with all the goodies-and their guacamole is really super-and don’t miss the chips.
Strings again delivered divine meals daily.
And Juan from my faoveite Highlands Tap and Burger brought the best cauliflower soup.
We went over there-Highlands Tap and Burger for dinner after we left the hospital-it is so great-the food, the service, the caring, the wine and beer-and the prices. We had the chicken wings and zucchini fries to start. Then we had the chicken club, the chimichurri buger and they all come with fries. We were way too full for dessert-and our wines were super and inexpensive—and everything is just great.
Running around from the hospital we went over to meet Rod from Waffle Brothers—it was great and fun and a super spot—very small-order at the counter-sandwiches, ice cream, soups and more—and of course-waffles!!!! We had the turkey avocado bacon sandwich-on Udi’s bread-and they have a whole gluten free menu.
Then we went to dinner at Shells and Sauce-at the bar!!! It was totally mobbed, the food and service are the best-and new bar friends are always fun. We had the salmon and the chicken parmesan, best bread and better wine --and new friends always.
Wednesday was a big day at our house---TV in the morning with last minute ideas for gifts—or at home--and then Mark came home.
THIS WEEK ON TV—MY FAVORITES OF THE YEAR—be sure and tune in to channel 7 for the 11am news on Wednseday.
Chipotle seems to be winning this week as we had a really hectic day and this was a great way to go-we had tacos and salads and burritos and chips and guacamole and great service and terrific food.
Strings on Christmas Eve was amazing-it always is—a family tradition for many years, I continued it. We had divine spinach salads, shrimp bisque, squash soup and rolls for starters. Then we had penne bagutaa, arctic char, sea bass, veal chop and risotto for entrees and we loved them all. Dessert was a Christmas log that we shared. It was a great night and the tradition will continue for years I hope. Get over to strings and see the great holiday decorations too. And service is perfect.
Brenda called and was so thrilled with gluten free-and waffles-she has not had them in ages and can hardly wait to get there.
Kathy too was thrilled with the special menu. She adores Strings and all the good things there all the time-brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner and all.
Jim went to the new Aria—he said the food was good, the service needs help, and it is pricey. It just opened on 2nd and Josephine---good luck to Michael Long.
Walter had the most divine dinner at Shanahan’s and amazing wines too.
Monica went to Fogo de Chao and enjoyed it a lot. She loved Oceanaire, and is so looking forward to Elway’s Cherry Creek dinner.
Pam had the best burger, wine, fries, chicken wings, and all at Highland Tap & Burger—it is our new favorite of everyone—perfect neighborhood place and great food-it is on 32nd between Tejon and Zuni.
Lydia had a great meal at Argyll.
Diane went to Savory Spice and loved it. She is a total fan of Yak & Yeti since our dinner. She wnjoyed Wyland’s and is on her way to Highland Tap and Burger. And there is a new spot Uptown Bros. where Red Room was on E. Colfax.
Bill needed Christmas dinner.
Thank you for allowing me to thank all of you—and everyone—who have made this year possible. You all are the most loyal and caring---for calling, listening, attending dinners, and all.
I am a very lucky lady-and cannot thank you enough.
Love and talk next week.
