We had dinner at the bar (with Kris, the great bartender), at Strings. And the most fun is meeting all the other diners there. We had a great dinner of the beet salad and the Brussels sprouts salad and then the short rib (fabulous) and the great half chicken. Dessert was a chocolate meringue delight. The place is great and what a fun time.
Halloween at Madison St. was great-the staff was in costume and giving treats to the kids who walked by. Service is super-the food great –diner food!!!! We had the hummus and beet salad and both are super divine. Then we had burgers-the turkey, the fish, and the Portobello and all were super and come on special buns for each-and lots of fries too. We also had the chicken club and it was super. Dessert was a great apple cobbler a la mode.
Lunch at Edge was fabulous. The service from valet to staff to wait people is beyond perfect. The room is beautiful and we adored the food. The Epi bread is perfect and then the lunches: the Caesar and tomato soup that comes with a mini cheese Panini, the veggie wrap with a whole wheat tortilla (divine) with a side salad, the lamb meatball open face sandwich-yum—and a fabulous crispy chicken with amazing potatoes. It was a real treat. And good for them!!!!
Highland Tap & Burger is a place not to miss. It is great!!! On 32nd between Zuni an Tejon this burger bar is fabulous. An outdoor fire pit blazes on the patio, the bar area is super and there is a separate area for more dining. The place is not quiet-but so much fun. The food is great, service too. Beer and wine and cocktails are priced so well, and the food rocks. We had the best chicken wings-smoked and not fried with great sauce, and a whole artichoke as well as mac and cheese. All were terrific—and then we had the lamb burger, the burger with mushrooms and more, the chop salad, and the chicken sandwich—all come with mounds of fries and great buns. We also had sides of duck fat fries and terrific onion rings. We loved it all!!! Get on by.
Dinner at ZiFusion was great. We went back to try more and had a great time. Food, service, wine, and fun. We had the best calamari, pumpkin soup, and the spicy fries-that were not too spicy but delicious. Then we had the skirt steak, the chicken with ginger rice noodles, halibut with shrimp, and the pork chop and all were great. We had a chocolate lime dessert that was great too. It is a lovely spot.
We finally did get on TV with some of Gabalicious—the President and election took over-guess that is a good excuse. Be sure to go to gabbygourmet.com and watch the segment if you missed it-under TV appearances-it was great fun. And the food was fabulous.
Dinner at Shells and Sauce was fabulous—and so impressed our friends who had never been. Service is divine, wines great-yes-ball buster again ---and food just the best. We all had the great bread and dip and then Caesar salads. Entrees were chicken with pasta, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, cioppino, salmon. Everyone was delighted. Then we shared tiramisu and a pumpkin ginger mousse. What fun-and so good.
We went to Fuel for a birthday dinner and it was so great. Love the place-very casual and super with great wines, food, and service. The menu changes all the time and we were there for the first night of a new menu. We had the beet ball, and the ricotta, prosciutto bruschetta to start and they were divine. Then we had the winter salad, lamb pappardelle, and turkey mole for entrees-again great. The decadent desserts were super too ---brioche with red wine pear and chocolate caramel tamales for dessert—and great wine too-and super service
Blair called from Barolo Grill—the truffles are here-the big dinner is Monday night but then come all week for 1, 2, 3 or 4 courses with black or white truffles.!!!
Kathy raved about Strings-and Noel—and Natural Grocers, Vitamin Cottage where we all shop often-great items, great prices, and really caring service. She went to ZiFusion and loved it.. remember we have a dinner there soon.
Several people called about turkeys at Vitamin cottage.
We talked with Joni about the great nutrition in some items-like Brussels sprouts, pumpkin and more—and great ideas. She will happily go over any and all issues-or not—with you.
Lynn adores the brunch at Strings-even for her anniversary. And we talked about Wyman’s, on 13th between Race and Vine for salads and pizza.
Stu called about the Four Seasons and Edge, the new restaurant. It is great.
Char was at Randolph’s at the Warwick last night and loved it. She will be coming to our tasting dinner on December 9.
C.J. called about the turkeys too-remember supply is limited.
We talked lots about the store, Strings, new places, dining out and ran out of time.
Remember to come by TGI Friday next Saturday.
Thanks for listening.
