My guests were Noel Cunningham of Strings and Jeniffer of Ceylon Pearl was there to charm all and give information. Patrick and Bill, co-workers, were there as well.
We went to SALT in Boulder for dinner and it was great and fun. It is very casual and service, wine, and food are super. We had flatbread pizza and heirloom tomato salads for appetizers. Then we had barramundi, the pork chop, and the half chicken for entrees. The chocolate ganache tart with gelato and salt was a divine dessert.
We went to Bones for dinner and in October sat outside. The service and hostess were great. We had egg roll and spinach salad for starters. Then we did try the tempura cod which was great. The bowls were the lobster and the chicken and one had short rib lettuce wraps.
Cholon had a huge opening party-never saw food and the place set for dining but it is super looking with modern look-let you know more.
Then we went to Elway’s Cherry Creek for dinner-what fun. We had our usual seat at a bar table-our favorite way to dine---and had the new mango huckleberry salad and Caesar for starters—and the best onion rings anywhere—except my favorite-which we ordered—potato chips –a bit of spice but divine—and then we also had the sweet potatoes with green chili pesto—another winner—along with salmon, buffalo rib eye and halibut. We ended with the most decadent triple chocolate cake with nutella gelato—and the wines and service were amazing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Tyler—he is celebrating all month so shout out.
We got carryout from Annie’s Café and it was great-an eggy kind of day—one omelet-one Willy’s special-eggs with hamburger---and one egg salad sandwich-with fries!!!! All were really good and came in super shape too.
We went to the new Cholon Bistro downtown. The place is great looking with a huge open kitchen, a bar area, and seating throughout. Will write more of this later. Our server was super although it takes a while to get your food---it is brand new, so relax. Everyone gets a big rice cracker and dip as you are seated. Then we had onion soup dumplings, duck egg rolls, and the best of the small bites, a divine kaya toast with coconut jam and soft egg. We shared a very good and fun green papaya salad with tamarind sorbet. Then we shared the chicken, lamb and halibut for entrees---and a great side of Brussels sprouts. Desserts were super with molten chocolate cake with peanut butter gelato, sorbet, and donuts with coffee gelato.
TV on Wednesday was super. We did street eats in the parking lot. What a good time.
First EvoBean Coffee was fabulous-and gave drinks-your choice-to the folks at the station-and they all came and loved it. We did too. Then Sugar lips donuts-made to order and incredible and the fans went wild. Walter’s Bistro was another hit with great sandwiches, mac and cheese topped with pulled pork and mustard sauce. And Deluxe did a great job with sandwiches, fries, and fried mac and cheese balls. All were a hit.
Then I went for a photo shoot for Colorado View that will be out the first of November. It is gonna be spectacular with a holiday dinner from the folks—janet and Mike Johnston of Savory Spice. Done in their home, the food—AND SPICES—were amazing—and wait until you see the table. Alan Perry florists-the best and most gorgeous ever. And the dishes and all---wait till you see it all.
It was time for dinner at the bar with Kris at Strings. And we had a great time. Super drinks and wine make the start super. Then we had the Brussels sprouts salad and the beet salad for starters. Entrees were great---liver (the reason we went to start), chicken, pork, and walleye. All were super.
We went to ENCORE for lunch—my friend and I had a great get together-still eating on the patio in October—wow!!! We had the scallop burger special—not me, but he said it was great—and the BLT with avocado—it was. And then the lamb burger that was super as well.
We went to a wine dinner at Morton’s—a very different wine dinner. It was a Mondavi dinner with Mondavi and Charles Krug wines-and one Mondavi gentleman was here-and charming-but the event was hosted in all Morton’s across the country on a big screen where all the family was our host. They gave wine descriptions, etc. via satellite. At the reception they served smoked salmon pizza, crabcakes, and beef crostini. Seated, we had a sea bass and greens salad and then a huge New York strip with potatoes, a tomato stuffed with spinach and cheese covered onion. Dessert was a cappuccino mousse. We had several wines. And a special collection was auctioned off and 2 people bid $1,000 so the folks generously gave two sets. This went to Make A Wish Foundation.
Organic Pizza Company sent over a pizza-we had the Donald with duck, peppers, all sorts of goodies-it is take and bake and really good-thin crust and terrific. Order and carryout-really good with lots of options. It is in the Highlands and opening downtown.
We went to Fuel for dinner-always a treat. The service is so good, the place fun, and very casual, and the wine list super as well. We had the burrata and the gnocchi for starters. Both were amazing. Entrees were a great chicken and grouper. We had a super divine chocolate cake for dessert—and what fun—and our terrific waitress suggested one great red wine.
Everyone adored the breakfast today----different foods and great fun---and all the teas-and teas to take home as well-what a treat.
Kathy loved breakfast—she called when she got home. And then she went to Shells and Sauce, a favorite and adored Fuel too.
Chris called-his recipe for good health-take green tea, add honey, cinnamon—and then 2 tsp of malt—no dairy and great-his cholesterol is down and he is in good shape.
Robert wanted Italian-not too pricey and really good-Shells and Sauce is the answer.
Helen called about the Golden Tea Room and loves it.
We had several calls about tea---such fun---and Strings.
Thanks for listening and calling.
