Ellen Daehnick OF Helliemae's Salt Caramels ellen@saltcaramels.com (303) 834-7048 @helliemaes stopped by to show us her great caramels. They are great-try the cardamom caramels—yum-so are all the others.

The question of the day: How much in dollars was a pound of truffles last year $1850.00
The truffle dinner week this year at Barolo Grill is Nov 9-
They have their great fall menu in now.

We went to dinner with friends and we all loved it. They had not been for ages and what a treat. Start with Woody Creek Cab Franc—it was fabulous wine and Kris has it on the wine list now. Service was perfect and so was the food. We had Brussels sprouts salad, beet salad, and crab cakes for starters. Then we had salmon, liver, lamb, veal, and pasta with sausage and red sauce. We were all delighted. Then we shared the praline dessert-like a shake but much better, and the petit four platter. It was such a treat.

We went to Park & Co. and loved it. The waitress was fabulous-all the help very friendly and nice. We shared a chop salad and it was great-and then adored our entrees-the burger rare, the tuna sandwich divine, the veggie burger great, and a terrific turkey club. The sweet potato fries are the best. And it is all fun. It is noisy fyi—and if you care.

The Gabby dinner at 1515 was great. The room looked lovely, the service was outstanding-really terrific!!!! And the food and wine were wonderful. We had warm great bread and an arugula salad with watermelon as a first course. Then came a fabulous scallop with peach balsamic. The entrees were great- a choice of chicken with cherry sauce or lamb. Both were big hits. The chocolate tasting for dessert was super as well. And the Woody Creek wine was amazing and a great match.

We went to Shells and Sauce ---on a Tuesday night-the crowd was amazing!!! And the food and service at this place are just the best---and the wines too. We had the divine bread and dip and Caesar salad to start. Then we had the chicken parmesan, the veal parmesan, and the divine sea bass for entrees-everyone is just plain fabulous. Then we had tiramisu for dessert-and the wine –BALL BUSTERS—HONEST ON THE LABEL—IS A MUST.

TV was great with Cheap Eats from the A-List—we had Famous Dave’s. Big City Burrito, Snooze, Tommy’s Subs, and the best-Jimano—the pizza looked so good that we are on our way.

Then I got to go to a tasting of the great food at the new Edge Restaurant at the Four Seasons. It is opening next Tuesday—this coming!!! It is gorgeous-the whole hotel is---and then the decor, the food, the service, the attire—everything. We had a lot of food- first sushi with different options-hamachi, seared kobe, beef sushi, elk and tuna—surf and turf, were a few---then we had beef tartar-fabulous presentation too. And a wedge salad—also super with boar bacon, and a mozzarella and tomato salad that was amazing. Then we had kobe beef-an appetizer, that you cook on your stone-delicious. Entrees were bone in strip, bone in filet, double cup lamb chops—all prime. And a sea bass with Sambuca. Sides were creamed corn, bubbles and squeak, mac and cheese balls in cheese sauce for dipping, and spinach with sour cream. And then desserts came: baked Alaska in the best meringue-the best chocolate mousse-73 percent with ice cream and a small pudding, a divine fruit cobbler, and an excellent and very different crème brûlée. That was all!!!!

Madison St. opened today-and we went—a great neighborhood spot-and mobbed—guess the neighborhood is ready-and it was super fun. The food is great-neighborhood fare—nothing fancy-loud, décor fun, wine list great and prices too-portions huge and a menu for everyone. We had the beet salad, the baked brie, and the hummus and all were very good. Then we had the rotisserie half chicken with cobb trimmings, the turkey burger with great fries, the petrole sole, and the porchetta salad. They were all really good—and then we had mini cupcakes for dessert. Will sure go back.

Lunch was at home—we were tasting CeylonPearl Teas—wow—they were wonderful—and with them we had sandwiches from Masterpiece Deli. We had egg salad, cubano, turkey, reuben and prime rib-and chips and slaw and pasta salad—and OMG they are so wonderful.

We went to the very new ZI Asian, in the space where Maxwell’s was-it is similar but looks fabulous—and casual but upscale with a terrific staff-and great food and wine. Chris, the sommelier chose a great wine for us, while Bob helped us pick dishes as everything looked so great-and the food was—wine perfect. We had sushi, and then a fabulous tuna stack and mussels in curry to start. Entrees were a divine salmon, a supre pork chop, halibut and the best duck stir fry. We did not stop till we finished the trio of crème brûlée-ginger, lemongrass, and green tea—yum, and a chocolate ganache cake. It is so worth a trip. Give it a try.

We had sandwiches from Rav House on Mineral and Broadway and they were great.

Marilyn went to Famous Dave’s and loved it.

We talked about Jimano’s pizza-yum—going this Sunday to dinner there. See you there.

Stu loves Barolo.

Mary Ann loves Barolo and sits at the bar all the time. And she had a great time at Citronelle in Washington DC.

Robert is taking his sister for her birthday and wants a great steakhouse. We talked about Shanahan’s, Elway’s Cherry Creek, and Elway’s Downtown. And about the new Edge---about to open.

Dave loves Old Fashioned Candy and Nut House on Trenton and E. Colfax—and they are adding coffee and goodies too.

Marsha loves Fleming’s steakhouse-another nice choice.

We were way out of time.
Thanks to the folks at the Jr. League Holiday Mart-and to all of you.
WE ARE IN STUDIO NEXT SATURDAY TAKING YOUR CALLS.
Thanks for listening

See you on Channel 7 on Wed. at the 11am news—and next Saturday.
