D-Bar Desserts brings great excitement to Denver. Keegan Gerhard, famous pastry chef, is very familiar as he is on TV and has a presence as guest chef at A Taste of Colorado. His lovely and talented wife, Lisa Bailey, is his partner at this divine spot. Together, they are the most gifted, charming and fun couple. It shows in the design: big glass doors let one peek inside from the street – and entering is irresistible. The small space features a great bar, a fabulous case of mouthwatering treats, and a display of coffees and more. The modern tables and chairs are a knockout with light aqua walls offering a soft and pleasing ambience. The patio is divine and just the spot to enjoy your selections. Just try to pick your dessert: cookies of all kinds, brownies plain or s’mores where they heat the graham cracker filled chocolate delight to melt the marshmallows covering the top, cupcakes galore, truffles and candies. Tiramisù, lemon cake, pies, and tarts tempt. Just trying to decide is impossible. A super wine list, special coffee and tea drinks, cold sodas and more please all. Savories fill out the menu with a selection of divine panini for lunch or dinner as well as beautiful, tasty salads. The pizza salad sandwich is a knockout with thin crust pizza “bread”, pesto, Parmesan and goat cheese filling, topped with salad. The b.a.c.t. panini with applewood bacon, avocado, white cheddar and tomato served with a small salad is to die for.
Don’t miss the grilled cheese and tomato soup, or any special of the day. Add amazing sliders, addictive mac and cheese, and different specials each day. The presentations are fabulous and add to the fun. And, if you are looking for other desserts or cakes – especially wedding or special occasion cakes – this is the place.
