Old Blinking Light is a terrific looking space, hip and slightly upscale. Comfortable seating, lots of steel, big windows, brick, funky chandeliers, interesting lighting and a huge focal open kitchen set the interior scene. The patio, complete with a charcoal pit and heat lamps, when needed, is a real treat. The food is seasonal American with a Southwestern soul with creative touches that please all. Start with chicken queso nachos, a flash fried avocado that rocks, cheesy grit stuffed jalapeños, tuna sashimi, and prawn tapas. Addictive duck-fat potato fries arrive crispy with just the right amount of salt. Other lighter items such as the warm beet salad, Caesar, or tortilla soup Taos style make great second courses, or enjoy Nat’s salad with the best bacon ever. Indulge in great burgers: plain, cheese burger, green chile cheese burger, smoked pork or sloppy duck. All come with divine sweet potato fries. Specialties include honey smoked chicken, cowboy steak, baby back ribs, halibut, salmon, and beef fajitas. Other favorites include great fish tacos, beef red chile corn enchiladas, a vegetarian burrito, a combo plate, and chile cheese rellenos. End with divine sorbet, cheesecake, and amazing banana bread with chocolate chips and gelato. Margaritas are a specialty; the wine list is terrific. Service is great and caring. They even offer curbside to-go and catering. The OBL is the way to go for a great casual dining experience.
